WINDOWS PHONE IS DEAD..

WINDOWS PHONE IS DEAD.. WELL FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES

Microsoft bought Nokia with a laudable goal. Along with Windows 8, they were going to create an ecosystem that worked across all devices. The same App you bough for your phone would work on Windows 8 PC, or surface tablet or any other future Windows device.

As a concept I must admit, IT SOUNDED AWESOME! So what went wrong? Just about everything

1) Windows 8 was an abysmal trainwreck. Windows 10 fixes that and it is a awesome OS I cannot wait to start using, but the damage was done.

2) Microsoft entered a market with no room for growth. 87% of all new smartphone activations globally are Android. The rest is mostly Apple. There is nothing left for Microsoft. They simply waited too long.

In July 2015, Microsoft wrote off THE ENTIRE VALUE of their acquisition. Understand, this comes in two parts. When they bought it, they gave a price based on current value AND projected future value. They wrote off both. That means they believe Windows Phone to have NO FUTURE VALUE. In other words, it is a dead platform.

I hope you found this useful.
