Force Quitting a Program
Force Quitting a program
When programs stop responding, who you gonna call? Comp-Busters! Just kidding, but what do you do if your computer freezes and you need to force end a program? Both Mac and Windows have their own special keystroke combination to allow you to end a task. These work even when nothing else seems to respond, unless the computer is truly 100% frozen. In that case, all you can really do is force it off.
Mac:
You want to force quit an application. Hit “alt” – “apple” – “esc” or “Command” and “Option” and “Escape” keys.
Windows:
press CTL+ALT+DEL at the same time. This brings up a menu with a few options including “change password,” “lock computer” and the task manager. Open the task manager and discussed in previous tips of the day.
