WELL FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft bought Nokia with a laudable goal. Along with Windows 8, they were going to create an ecosystem that worked across all devices. The same App you bough for your phone would work on Windows 8 PC, or surface tablet or any other future Windows device.<\/p>\n<p>As a concept I must admit, IT SOUNDED AWESOME! So what went wrong? Just about everything<\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>1) Windows 8 was an abysmal trainwreck. Windows 10 fixes that and it is a awesome OS I cannot wait to start using, but the damage was done.<\/p>\n<p>2) Microsoft entered a market with no room for growth. 87% of all new smartphone activations globally are Android. The rest is mostly Apple. There is nothing left for Microsoft. They simply waited too long.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2015, Microsoft wrote off THE ENTIRE VALUE of their acquisition. Understand, this comes in two parts. When they bought it, they gave a price based on current value AND projected future value. They wrote off both. That means they believe Windows Phone to have NO FUTURE VALUE.
