Windows has what it calls the “Windows Experience Index.”\u00a0 It is supposed to tell you how fast your computer is.\u00a0 But does it really tell the whole story?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Let’s take a look.<\/p>\n

Pretty easy right?\u00a0 Obviously, the first computer is faster than the second.\u00a0\u00a0 But is it really?\u00a0 Let’s look inside these numbers.

A closer look shows that the second machine actually has a faster processor, faster memory and faster hard drive access times.\u00a0 So why does it get such a lower score overall?<\/p>\n

The Windows Performance Index is decided by the SLOWEST benchmark it sees, not the fastest.\u00a0 The second machine has a slow video card, so that brought its overall score down.\u00a0 Will you really notice?\u00a0 If you’re a gamer, absolutely!\u00a0 However, if you are the average user, you will not notice at all.\u00a0 In fact, the second machine will rightfully seem quicker.<\/p>\n

So, once again, this proves that benchmarked speed means little when getting a PC.\u00a0 You should upgrade ONLY if YOU feel it is too slow.\u00a0 not just because some number tells you so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
